HYPNOTECNICA

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This game contains flashing lights that may make it unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions.
Controller with rumble works best, keyboard and mobile work too.
Download recommended, web-version glitches a bit as it loads assets,
but once loaded should run fine.
(X)     /    Space    /   Touch
Hold button to select nearby neurons, release button to delete targeted neurons.
Get bonus points the more enemies you stack - Up to 8 at a time for a tenfold multiplier.
Consequences
Deleting neurons makes your fungi grow in size,
exponentially increasing your score and risk.
Development
Solo developed in Godot 4.2 sporadically over 10 days, focusing too much on fine tuning movement and targeting and leaving level and enemy design for the last 5 hours of the jam - Less than ideal. Learned a lot and had a great time nonetheless! HYPNOTECNICA is inspired by games like Rez, Vib Ribbon, Tempest 2000, visuals like those seen in Winamp Visualizations and early abstract animation like the work of Norman McLaren. Visuals created using a mix of analog video synthesis, video feedback and TouchDesigner, music and sound effects created through modular synthesis.
Pretty rad style and great simple gameplay loop. My only complaint is it chugs a little with the embedded version, but my computer might just be trash.
"Development" paragraph is so relatable 😭. I focused too much on fine tuning a lot of unimportant stuff, and I didn't even have time or  strength to finish placing attacks and stuff and story
This can cause someone serious epilepsy
Yeah, I'm ashamed I forgot to add a warning at the start of the game, I normally do. Added it to the page, big and loud, hope people notice.
